Michelle – Week One

December 5, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Last night we continued our challenge this Christmas season to get outside ourselves and bless a family in need. This was the second week of this challenge, and last night we chose the family we are going to bless. After hearing numerous stories from the teens of people they know who are in need, they voted on the family they would like to help. The family they selected lives an hour a way and doesn’t have money to pay the heat, buy food, let alone get presents for the two boys who live in the house. So, we are going to bless their socks off this Christmas.
As small groups met the rest of the night, it was unbelievable to hear the many ideas that were shared about how they can bless this family. I’m looking forward to the next two weeks as we shower down the love of Jesus on this family!

Other People Matter – Lakeshore Vineyard

November 28, 2007 · 1 Comment

What if we really believed that other people mattered this Christmas season, and throughout the year? What would that look like? Recently, I’ve been thinking about how can I push the teenagers at lvc to live beyond themselves this Christmas season and really bless a family in need? As I thought about that question, I pulled together a team to think about how we could do this. After giving it some thought, we came up with this idea — have teenagers think of a family who is struggling and will have a hard time this Christmas, challenge teenagers to share these situations with us, and then the whole group will vote on the family they want to bless. Once a family is selected, then the teenagers can go crazy and think of ways to really love this family.

We’ll see how it goes. This should be fun.
